Illumination - symbols E, units of lux (lx)
Illumination is falling on the surface of the light per unit area or total luminous flux (as shown). It is said by the symbol E. Unit of measurement is the lux (lx). 1 lux equals 1 lumen / square meter (lm/m2)
Illumination can be defined as:
The surface of the incident light flux and the ratio of surface area
Or: 
Illumination luminous flux from the direction of the surface impact reach.
